Report of a Large and enthusiastic war meeting was held at Sanford
Scatop, near Terre Haute, on the 25th inst., in which Messrs. Cookerly
of the Terre Haute Journal and Mr. Wright
of the Express took a prominent part. Mr.
Cookerly is said to have entirely gained his
former anti-war course and made an excellent Union speech, for which we have no
doubt, his former party friends will denounce
him as a convert to abolition. Mr.
Meredith's speech is said to have been a stirring appeal to the patriotism of the people.
