Scatop, near Terre Haute, on the 25th inst., in which Messrs. Cookerly
of the Terre Haute Journal and Mr. Wright
of the Express took a prominent part. Mr.
Cookerly is said to have entirely gained his
former anti-war course and made an excellent Union speech, for which we have no
doubt, his former party friends will denounce
him as a convert to abolition. Mr.
Meredith's speech is said to have been a stirring appeal to the patriotism of the people.
