Secretary of Agriculture Notifies Governor Bilbo That He Can Use Funds In Building Highways In State Will Be Great Impetus.
Jackson.—Governor Bilbo is in receipt of a letter from G. F. Marvin, acting secretary of the department of agriculture, bringing assurance that the funds apportioned to Mississippi under the federal aid road act now available—“as soon as a number of counties have provided funds sufficient to equal the available federal appropriations, and have entered into the necessary agreements with the state highway commission authorizing it to act for them in dealing with the department and supervise the actual construction of roads built with federal aid.”
Under this act the state of Mississippi gets $89,000 for three years, or $267,000 for the first three years.
