Robert T. Varnum Is Beneficiary Under Will Of Mary D. Varnum Who Left $1,070,944.
Robert Taylor Varnum of Pomfret Center will receive a $25,000 bequest, according to a transfer tax appraisal of the estate of his sister-in-law, Mary Dickey Varnum, filed in New York City Monday.
The testatrix left a gross estate of $1,070,944 and a net of $997,632 when she died on June 4 last. The chief assets were stocks and bonds valued at $1,034,887.
Mr. Varnum and two sisters-in-law of the decedent, Susan Varnum de Rose of 910 Park Avenue, Manhattan, and Amy Lenox Varnum of Newport, R. I., were bequeathed equal shares in a $75,000 legacy. The three beneficiaries were also left a number of portraits of and papers relating to the Varnum family.
The residuary estate was left equally to a niece, Sophie Townsend Dix, of Mount Kisco, N. Y., and a nephew, Charles Denston Dickey, of 23 Wall Street, Manhattan.
Mr. Dickey and J. P. Morgan & Co. of Wall Street are the executors.
