ROBS PAYROLL FROM S. P. PASSENGER TRAIN

OAKLAND. Nov. 10th, (P) A Southern Pacific passenger train bound for Tracy from Oakland, was held up by five armed men at Norel and robbed of an unestimatable amount of cash from passengers also a valuable mail estimated at a value of forty to fifty five thousand dollars which was in ten to fifteen bags of registered mail. The money was to be used by the Columbia-Steel Works at Pittsburg for the payroll of the company's pay checks, the money was to be used in cashing them.

Workers lined up awaiting their checks, which were withheld as soon as the robbery was reported.
