Minneapolis—University farming is the reason for an increase of 9,782 farms in Minnesota during the past five years, Dean W. C. Coffey of the University of Minnesota college of agriculture, said. The increase, which amounts to 5 1/2 per cent, is shown in the United States census bureau's preliminary figures on farms for 1925 and the gain by Minnesota was made during a period in which the total number of farms in the entire country dwindled from 6,448,343 to 6,372,608. The total number of farms in Minnesota at present is 188,260.
