In the evening five car loads of Wide Awakes and other citizens of this place, with a goodly addition at Washington and Walnut Level station, arrived at the depot and were welcomed by the booming of cannon and the shouts of the people. The Wide Awakes were accompanied by Mitchell's Cornet Band, who generously volunteered for the occasion--also by a band of martial music, composed of amateurs, which cannot be excelled. The lamps were soon lighted, a procession formed, and marched through the principal streets of the town, at every point welcomed by the warm hearted Republicans of that place.
The large crowd was then collected near the pole, and were addressed by D. P. Holloway and Ed. Burke Newman, Esq. A procession was again formed and marched to the depot, and before ten o'clock, the visitors had all left for their homes. It was a part of the good time coming"--that long looked for event will be here on the 6th of November next.
