A very sad accident occurred at Princeton, Mercer county, Sunday morning, June 1st.

Miss Polly Yates, a young lady in her 14th year, was accidentally shot and instantly killed by her brother.

It appears that while the young lady was standing before a glass fixing to go to Sunday school, some one of the family remarked to her brother that the gun was loaded and had a cap on it, and that he had better take it off.

He took it down for that purpose and accidentally let it discharge, the charge taking effect in his sister's side with such force as to tear her heart out.

The girl was a member of the Baptist Church.
