LATE FROM LIMA.

A gentleman has arrived in town, via. Panama and Havana, who left Lima on the 4th of June, at which time that place held out against the forces of San Martin and Lord Cochrane, and possessed a force of 6000 regular troops, and 14,000 militia: and the navy had been reinforced by the arrival of some Spanish ships of war. The new Viceroy was very popular, and there was no prospect of the immediate surrender of the place to the besiegers. The elegant corvette Ship Gen. Brown, Capt. Skiddy, we learn, had arrived at Callao, from this port, with a valuable cargo.-N. Y. Com. Adv.
