The Aggie Shots
COLLEGE STATION, Tex., Mar. 4—Capt. Phil Enslow's Texas Aggie pistol team got away to a flying start on the 1939 season by firing an aggregate score of 1360 for the week ending Feb. 25 and with that score won a victory over Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, whose team fired a total of 1295.
In the freshman matches the Aggie Fish shot a 1285 against the Buckeyes' freshman score of 1125.
The same score will be used against Xavier College of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Ham and Petersham Rifle Club, of Surbiton, England. Results of the first match are expected within a few days but the score of the English team can hardly arrive before March 8. The same scores are used in all matches fired during any calendar week ending with Saturday. Matches are fired on the home ranges and certified scores exchanged by mail.
High Aggie gun was fired by R. T. (Bob) Shiels, Jr., of Dallas with a total of 282 in slow, timed and rapid fire. His score of 94 in slow fire missed the college record by one point.
