Full Text
At the invitation of a friend, we visited the barracks last Sunday, and while there witnessed a sad scene. An aged refugee had "shuffled off this mortal coil", and we saw his corpse carried off to the burying ground. We observed his weeping family around the wagon that contained all that was mortal of their friend, but they were denied the privilege of accompanying it to the graveyard. The lamentations of the relatives of the deceased was sufficient to move the heart of a stone. We don't know but it seems hard to be denied the right to accompany the corpse of a friend or relative to the place of interment. Can't something be done to remedy this matter.
