A BOUQUET of the FLOWERS HE LIKES BEST to EDWARD "BUSTER" RICE, State Representative from Montville, and B.A. for the TEAMSTERS UNION, for the swell fight he put up in helping secure a State Labor Relations Act for the State of Connecticut. This Act now gives employees engaged in intra-State the right to organize without fear of their employer. THAT IS WHAT LABOR NEEDS. representation that is militant and SINCERELY FOR LABOR. Good luck, BUSTER, in all of your future legislative and political work.
BRICKBATS by the ton truckload square on the heads of MANAGEMENT for the appointment of HAROLD CRUISE to the position of SAFETY DIRECTOR. It seems to us that with all the GOOD UNION MEN in the yard MANAGEMENT could have made a much better choice. JUNE 5th isn't too far off.
BOUQUETS by the ARMFUL to those LEADING MEN OF THE PIPESHOP who attended the PIPEFITTERS SHIN-DIG held Saturday, March 31st. These men by their action showed their interest in promoting better relations between their men and themselves.
BRICKBATS as hard as his head and square on the head of "LEADMAN" VOYER of the second shift welders, main yard. Listen, feller, the boys are getting sick and tired of your domineering tactics and don't enjoy being snooped on. We don't like to see any trouble but you're asking for it. Why don't you try to behave like a human being and treat your men as such and help stop all this unpleasantness? Get smart, you'll get further.
BOUQUETS of the MOST BEAUTIFUL ORCHIDS to those MEN AND WOMEN of the Electric Boat who proudly wear their AF of L UNION BUTTONS. These are the kind of working people who have made the AMERICAN FEDERATION OF LABOR possible and whom we have to thank for the progress made in this yard and elsewhere.
BRICKBATS as sharp as can be and where it hurts most to THOSE JERKS who are trying to upset the harmony and progress being made by OUR UNION at the Electric Boat. These Labor Judases will do or say anything to break us up. Their only answer is 100% UNITY. Let's give it to them, gang.
BOUQUETS of the month's sweetest smelling flowers to the AF of L COMMITTEE who made it possible for the GUARDS to vote in the forthcoming election along with the other production and maintenance employees. These men have been too long without representation and it's about time they were given the consideration they deserve.
A BOUQUET OF POISON IVY rubbed right into the pusses of those of the INDUSTRIAL FOODCRAFT CANTEEN for still insisting on getting ten cents for a cup MUD, and we mean MUD. We pointed out to you before that other industries serve COFFEE to the employees, and we mean COFFEE, for five cents and manage to get along all right. If something is not done and soon the UNION will do something about it AND SOON. Get wise to yourself, there must be some other way of getting rich quick.
A BOUQUET OF BRIGHT AND LOVELY FLOWERS TO CHARLIE BROOKS for the work he has done in straightening out the yard's merit rating system. It is reported to us that CHARLIE spent a lot of time and effort in research and paper work in trying to expedite a revised system that will meet with the approval of the UNION until the election.
BRICKBATS aimed fast and true at the mugs of the TWO CHIPPERS on the first shift, main yard, who carry a LONGSHOREMEN'S CARD (AF of L) in their pockets and are talking against the AF of L in the yard. These men who have been receiving benefits from an AF of L UNION for so long are worse than the ordinary worker who is not AF of L because he does not know what it is all about. If they do not cease their lousy talk they will be reported to their UNION and their cards will be JERKED out quick.
BOUQUET OF THE WEEK TO THE U. S. SENATORS AND U. S. REPRESENTATIVES TO CONGRESS who voted AGAINST the FORCED LABOR BILL intended to enslave the AMERICAN WORKER FOREVER.
AND TO THE STATE SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES who fought and voted for the Connecticut State Labor Relations Act. THESE ARE THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO DESERVE LABOR'S SUPPORT NOW AND ALWAYS.
