Full Text

Captain Lin. C. Alexander is favorably mentioned as a suitable man to supply the vacancy on the district bench, occasioned by the resignation of Judge Saunders, of the fourteenth. Captain Alexander is a ripe scholar, and a profound lawyer, and would prove one of the best judges Texas has ever had. It is not our purpose to interfere in the matter, only to put on record an opinion we have long held, and to express the hope that Governor Hubbard, in making the appointment, will do so, not because this or that man may be his personal friend, or otherwise, but will consider the qualities of the men, and their ability as lawyers, who come before him for the place. If he will do this, we know no one who has a better chance than Alexander.
