A Successful Business Man who Adopted the Rouss Plan.

We had a pleasant call last week from Mr. Lewis Fitch, of Snow Hill, Ala., who is visiting his relatives in this city. We were much interested in his conversation about the progressive New South. Mr. F. is mayor, postmaster and railroad agent in his town, and does a strictly cash business. For several years he went along in the old rut, doing an advancing business on crops. He soon found that he was going behind instead of advancing, and being attracted by one of the C. B. Rouss Trade Journal editorials he read it carefully and immediately determined to make "a change in business all around."

He sold out his stock, made his settlements and closed his store, and announced that in two months he would open on the cash plan. In the meantime he remodeled and painted his store-house and got everything in shape for the new dispensation. All of his late competitors laughed at the idea of a cash business being done in that locality. Being of a determined mind he put his plans into practical operation by buying a stock from our friend, Mr. Rouss, and advertising by hand bills and paper that he would sell only for cash. Soon his business began to grow until now cash customers for many miles around flock to his establishment and he is constantly renewing his stock from the mammoth establishment of Mr. Rouss. The laugh has been turned to his late competitors, and while he is taking in the shining eagles in large quantities they are poring over ledgers and crop-liens, with their minds harassed over the prospect of losses while his customers keep the 33 to 50 per cent. in their own pockets that they are required to pay into the pockets at the end of the year of the old style merchants. All hail the Rouss era of doing business. Long may it wave. The hundreds of merchants throughout the country who have been converted from the defunct credit system to the Rouss cash ideas are daily singing praises to this great Broadway Merchant.-Win. Times.
