Tempe, Ariz., Aug. 28. - Active preparations are being made to receive incoming students at the Tempe Teachers' College which is about to begin its forty-fifth year of teacher training. Sept. 5, 6, and 7 have been announced as the dates for registration of all students. The usual penalties for late registration will apply after September 7. Regular class work will begin according to schedule on Monday, September 9. All entering Freshmen are required to be present at a special assembly in the Auditorium at eight o'clock on the morning of September 5. A program has been prepared by the faculty and the Student Body Council which will give the freshmen an opportunity to become acquainted with the student body as well as to learn the duties expected of them upon entering the college. Dormitories will be open the afternoon of Tuesday, September 3, to enable dormitory students to become settled before undertaking the work of registration. Applications for entrance now on file indicate a substantial increase in the enrollment for the year. The number of young men applying is unusually large. Several of the dormitories have been reserved practically to capacity and those who have not already made their room reservations are urged to do so as soon as possible in order to secure accommodations.
With eleven new members added to the College Faculty, it has been possible to increase materially the number and variety of courses. Changes are particularly noticeable in the departments of music and physical education both of which have been greatly increased in scope.
The new gymnasium has been completed and equipped with new apparatus for the activity classes and for the courses in coaching and theory. The addition of a new faculty member in the music department will be appreciated by those who are interested in glee club work and in band and orchestra.
Late reports indicate that practically all of the 1929 graduates who wish to teach have been located in teaching positions, most of them in Arizona.
