BOSTON, April 7.

The following Vote is extracted from the Journal of the House of Representatives, March 25, 1760.

VOTED, That his Excellency the Governor be desired to order the Ship King George to proceed to Great-Britain, there to receive on board the late Parliamentary Grant to this Province, or any other Sums belonging to this Province, and return with the same to Boston, as soon as may be; and that his Excellency the Governor, if he thinks proper, be accommodated with a Passage to Great Britain in said Ship.

It had for some Time before this been publickly hinted by Gentlemen, that it would be for the Interest of the Province, might the Ship King George be ordered home for the Parliamentary Grant; among other Things in Favour of this Opinion it was observ'd— That there is laid upon the present Year, exclusive of what will arise for the Support of Government and the begun Expedition, £167,560—That the Province were now paying an Interest of above £30,000 O.T. per Annum, which that Money received might take off; and unless partly reliev'd by the Parliamentary Grant before the next Tax is issued, the Burden would be too great for the People to bear; that if the Ship was not sent, it might be detain'd as long a while as we experienced that the last Grant was, before a Vessel of Force could be obtained for it's Conveyance—As no considerable Objections were started, it was presumed the Scheme was not disagreeable, even to the trading Part of the Community; however, when it was known that such a Vote had passed the House, a considerable Number of Merchants, Traders, &c. apprehending that the Ship was designed for the more immediate Protection of their Interest, which might suffer by Privateers, while she was absent from our Coast upon the general Service of the Province, humbly
