Upturned Boat Found Above Inlet on the Ocean Side

Friends Have Given up Hopes of Ever Seeing Messrs. Andrews and Linley Again—Patrol Will be Kept up on the Beach Today.

Further developments in the search for Messrs. Lloyd Andrews and W. C. Linley, whose mysterious disappearance from their friends on Friday at Middle Sound, was noted in yesterday's paper, lead almost positively to the conclusion that the men have met a tragic death at sea.

A search party left the city early yesterday morning and at Wrightsville Sound they procured a launch and made a thorough search of all the adjacent sounds, going from Wrightsville to Middle Sound and then taking a course over toward the Beach, in the direction which the men were last seen going. The search party moored their launch at the Beach and got out and walked several miles in both directions. Finally, on the ocean side, nearly two miles above the inlet, the boat in which Messrs. Andrews and Linley had ventured was found, turned bottom up on the sand. This shows almost conclusively that the men were carried out to sea through the inlet as was at first supposed and that their frail craft could not stand the heavy sea that was running and was overturned.

Friends of the young men have despaired of ever seeing them alive. A patrol will be kept up on the Beach today, so if the bodies are washed up on the beach they can be recovered and given interment.
