There was no valedictory address when 13 students received their diplomas Tuesday at the thirty-eighth annual commencement of the Columbus Academy.

Instead, there was a moment of silence in memory of Class Valedictorian Andrew W. Cary, of Plain City, killed in an automobile accident last Friday. The silence was observed by classmates, faculty and friends of the Academy.

Graduation was not on the school campus as usual this year. It took place in the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Boyaton Merrill giving the main talk.
