The Spicer Unit team continues to lead the League with three victories and no defeats.
In games played at C. Y. O. Field, Tuesday noon, large scores by the winners featured in the League. The Toledo Scales pounced on a weak Willys-Overland team and ran up 22 runs to 2 for the Automen. The Willys team is just being formed and was no match for the powerful Scalemen.
The largest score of the day was recorded by the Auto-Lite "A" nine as they outhit and outscored a luckless Acklin Stamping Unit outfit. The Auto-Lite team was "right" that day and it seemed that the Acklinites just couldn't get started. The game wound up with the Auto-Lites on the long end of a 26 to 0 score.
One of the closest games of Tuesday's program was between the National Supply and the Auto-Lite "B" teams. The game went two innings over the regulation seven with the Nationals finally scoring two runs in the last of the ninth to take the game by the score of 5 to 3.
Al Lohbauer did a fine job of twirling for the winners while his teammates gathered enough hits off the slants of Ted Nowak to bring the victory for National Supply boys.
Wiggy Keeler, one of the better softball pitchers around Toledo, again turned in a victory for his Spicerites as they took a very close and well played game from the Airway Electric Unit. The game was very interesting to watch as it was a pitching duel between Keeler and Art Sobiniak, who looked exceptionally good for the Airway outfit. A few costly errors by the Airway fielders in the last two innings was the margin of defeat for their team.
All games in the Noonday Softball League are played Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:00 noon at C. Y. O. Field West Bancroft Street and Parkside Boulevard. There is no admission charged for the games, according to Red MacDonald manager of the Noonday League.
