Mr. Freneau,
As a Treatise, we are told, is shortly to appear in vindication of MONARCHICAL FEDERALISM, and exhibiting to view the comparative merit of Mr. A----'s and Gov. C------'s political creeds, it is recommended to the author to extend his plan to a discussion of the following questions:
First—Why is Mr. A. who has fairly published in print his opinions for monarchy, so severely handled by our republican zealots, whilst others are spared, who are well known to hold the same principles and views, tho' they are careful to deal them out less open-handedly?
Secondly—Is it generous or friendly in these wary pursuers of the same object with Mr. A. to leave him in the brunt of all the shafts of republican malice, and to skulk themselves into the rear of the business: thus, like certain brotherhoods who shall be nameless, because it is not meant to degrade by the comparison, keeping the honestest but most unguarded member of the corps between themselves and a certain wooden machine, which shall likewise be nameless for the same reason.
