Execution.—The sentence of the laws was lately executed at Lenox, Mass. on an Indian, Samuel P. Charles, for the murder of Joel Freeman.

It is not a little curious to observe, how fond people are of shocking sights. On that day our village was almost deserted. Crowds passed through it from other towns on their way to the Accidama, the place of blood. Many went the night before, to be there betimes in the morning—fearing, perhaps, that the sheriff would steal a march upon them by executing the Indian previous to the appointed hour, and thus deprive them of the pleasure of witnessing a spectacle so horribly delightful.—Berk. Courier.
