Ex-Senator James G. Fair, says the New York Commercial Advertiser, is a noted figure at the St. James, even though the rich old Californian does tarry about the lobby. Senator Fair of late years has rather retired from active participation in affairs political and financial. It seldom falls to the lot of one man to have two such lovely daughters as the California Croesus has, and it is to his credit that these girls, with all their father's money in view, have had a practical financial education. As each daughter became of age to permit of her legally drawing a check a sum of money was deposited to her credit in a bank, and she was obliged to keep that bank account in proper order and balance. Each girl received her own bills for wearing apparel and other feminine articles and settled personally. One of these daughters, Jessie, married Herman Oelrichs. The other girl, Anita, is still single and is reported to be the richest unmarried woman in American society.
