THE ST. LOUIS CONVENTION
The National Democratic Convention which is to assemble in St. Louis next Tuesday, will be composed of very able men, who will meet to confer as to what is best for the country and the party, for they know that the success of the Democratic party will be for the benefit of the whole country. Knowing this fact and inspired by these views they will hold a free, frank and friendly conference, in which personal preferences will be set aside for the good of the whole people. Such a council, governed by such motives, composed of the ablest men of the country, will not make any mistakes. The grand principles of the Democratic party are well known and sharply defined. The leading questions in the coming campaign are settled in advance of the meeting of the Convention so that the only subject for consideration will be "who most truly represents the principles of the party and can secure the largest vote?" To arrive at a solution of that question will be the work of the convention and there is not a shadow of a doubt but that a proper conclusion will be reached and the result will be the selection at St. Louis of the next President and Vice-President of the United States. Mark the prediction.
