From the South. A letter from Columbia informs us that a Mr. Lewis Johnson, from Spartanburg, who had been a short time previously tried there, and condemned to be executed for passing counterfeit money, but pardoned, again visited that place on Sunday last, with more counterfeit money. He was seized and confined, and on Monday evening was duly sentenced (Judge Lynch presiding) to be taken in front of the court house and receive twenty five lashes on his bare back.— The sentence was carried into effect on Tuesday morning, in the presence of a large number of citizens; and a committee was appointed who escorted him out of the District.
