FROM THE NORTH.
The N. York "Daily Express" of Friday, says, that the passengers in the steam boat, which arrived just as the paper was going to press, report, that "gen. Hampton's army was marching to endeavor to form a junction with gen Wilkinson at St. Regis." If this be true, fools and traitors chuckle too soon at the supposed abortion of the expedition and termination of the campaign.
The Mercantile Advertiser says that the steam boat which arrived at New-York on the 26th ult. from Albany, bro't dispatches from the sec'y of war for government, which had been forwarded.--The Gazette, after corroborating the above news says, that it also brought a report of the resignation of Wilkinson. This we do not believe.
