Lucius "Luke" Lawton, a talented blues singer, and a 1958 graduate of A. E. Beach High School, has just made two recordings for the Petite Record Company, Pittsburgh, Pa. "I Want a Pretty Woman," one of his originals and "Look What Tears Have Done for Me," was recorded on the Starr Label with the Chickadee Singers recently.
Using the theatrical name of "Luke" he began his singing career in local night spots in the city before enlisting in the U. S. Air Force in 1958. Lawton, a former member of the Beach High School band, revealed his musical talents under the direction of Mr. James Drayton, organist and band director at that time.
Presently, "Luke" is appearing at the "Palace Club" in Boston, Mass. He will open June 19th, in Montreal, Canada with the Sunny Stanton Orchestra, Lawton will leave for an engagement in a famous Nassau, Bahamas club.
"Luke's two recordings will be on sale in Savannah later this week.
