Example of Harmony

So many questions were asked Chairman Hull of the Democratic National Committee respecting meeting between William G. McAdoo and Gov. Smith that the chairman issued this statement:

The meeting between Mr. McAdoo and Gov. Smith was entirely pleasant. The party welfare was the topic discussed. Each of the gentlemen participating, while speaking in my presence, exhibited the wholehearted interest in the problem of breaking the deadlock and bringing about a nomination.

It requires big men thus to meet and, in a spirit of mutual concession, strive jointly and earnestly to serve their party in time of emergency. Gov. Smith and Mr. McAdoo, in meeting and conferring fully and freely, undoubtedly set a fine example of harmony to the rank and file of the party.
