The following correspondence speaks for itself. We commend it to the attentive perusal of those who were delegates to the Parkersburg Convention, and who are bound in honor to support its nominees, but who are now found in the ranks of the enemy battling for Jacob and against the new Constitution:
CHARLESTON, W. VA.,
June 27, 1872.
C. R. Williams, Esq.:
Dear Sir: Please announce that Governor Jacob is an independent candidate for Governor.
Yours, truly,
WM. H. HOGEMAN.
Logan C. H., W. VA.,
July 10, 1872.
Wm. H. Hogeman:
Dear Sir: I received yours of the 27th ult., to-day, requesting me to announce to the people of Logan county, that Governor Jacob is an independent candidate for the office of Governor of this State. I have complied with your request, but in addition to that I have told the citizens of this county, that while they were once in favor of Jacob for Governor, it is now their duty as well as mine to support the nominations made at Parkersburg. As a delegate to that Convention, reflecting the will of my people, and carrying out my own sentiments, I was strongly in favor of the nomination of Governor Jacob for the office of Governor again. But finding that it was impossible to secure the nomination, I joined in with the rest, declaring the Hon. J. N. Camden the nominee of our party. And in doing that, I pledged him my support and the support of the people who sent me. Now I think we ought to give Mr. Camden, as an intelligent gentleman and a good Democrat, our earnest and hearty support in the coming election. If Governor Jacob remains an independent candidate up to the time of the election, it only paves the way for a Radical to fill the executive office of our State for the next four years. And the sound Democrats of Logan believe that our ascendency as a party is too recent, now to create dissensions, and follow regardless of all our interests and existence as a party the disaffected and disappointed aspirants to office.
I am with much respect, your obedient servant.
C. R. WILLIAMS.
ADDITIONAL--We, the undersigned citizens of Logan county, do hereby concur with and fully indorse the sentiments of the above letter.

Main Argument
delegates and democrats must honor their pledge to support j. n. camden as the party nominee from the parkersburg convention, rather than backing independent candidate governor jacob, to preserve party unity and prevent a radical victory in the gubernatorial election.
