Henry Raymond, of Wilmington, Del., and his wife, Lizzie, have been separated since September last. They met in Squire Bassett's office, on Tuesday by mutual agreement to settle their difficulties. No sooner had they been brought together than Raymond demanded of his wife permission to see the children, which she had denied him since their separation. Mrs. Raymond refused, whereupon her husband rushed upon her and, before the Squire could interfere, struck her a staggering blow in the face. He then struck her on the head with his cane several times before he was overpowered and arrested. He was held in $1,000 bail. He is believed to be insane. The woman is badly hurt.
