Shortly after midnight Friday, a Dodge car belonging to Dr. A. W. Reghburn, of Cairo, was side-swiped and damaged by a hit-and-run driver seven miles east of Quincy on Highway 90. The Cairo car, driven by Ben Bussey, was occupied by Dr. Reghburn's son and a group of friends who had attended the football game and dance in Quincy.
A few minutes after leaving for home, their happy evening was marred by the accident, when they were hit by the other car, driven by Ralph Rich, white, of Bainbridge. Rich faces the double charge of driving while intoxicated and failing to stop after the accident. Either of these charges is sufficient to suspend driver's license under the Florida law.
Rich was later arrested near the western limits of Quincy and admitted his part in the collision.
Fortunately, no serious personal injuries resulted. Estimated damage to Dr. Reghburn's car amounts to $75.00, while Rich's car suffered some $50.00 damage.
