Washington Democrats Elect Twenty-Eight Delegate To National Convention
TITLOW COMMITTEEMAN Platform Endorses Treaty Ratification Without Reservations
SPOKANE, Wash.. May 19.-A. R. Titlow, of Tacoma, was re-elected Democratic National Committeeman from Washington by an overwhelming vote at the Democratic State Convention here late yesterday. William Pigott, of Seattle, was the only opposing candidate.
Mrs. Elizabeth Christian, of Spokane, was elected by acclamation to be a member of the Woman's advisory Committee of the Democratic National Committee.
Eight delegates at large, each with half a vote. and twenty district delegates. also with half a vote each were elected to the Democratic National Convention at San Francisco June 28. The delegates at large are.
Mrs. Ernest Lister and Richard S. Jones, of Seattle; Martin Maloney, Colfax; Emma Hussman, Seattle; Mrs. J. M. Simpson. Spokane: Maurice A. Langhorn, Tacoma; Ed M Gonnor, Pacific county; and E. W Robertson, Spokane.
Mrs. Todd Chairman Mrs. Hugh C. Todd, of Seattle was named chairman of the State woman's organization.
The state party organization was victorious in every show of strength with the "Federal Brigade," or other insurgent elements.
According to the correspondent of the Seattle Post Intelligencer. a majority of the delegates to the National Convention favor William G. McAdoo, former Secretary of the Treasury, as first choice for President, Gov. James M. Cox, of Ohio, as second choice and Gov. Edward I. Edwards of New Jersey. third.
Platform Adopted The platform adopted by the convention yesterday endorses the administration. demands the ratification of the peace treaty without nullifying reservations, opposes universal military training in time of peace, endorses imposition of tax on excess war profits to raise money for soldiers' relief and favors the issuance of a pamphlet devoted to government publicity.
