Last Monday arrived here Capt. William Coffin from
Antigua, in whom came Passenger Capt. Edmund Coffin of
this Place who sailed the 10th of July last, and was
taken in eleven Days after he sailed, by three French Men
of War ; and after taking away his Light Sails and some
other Stores, permitted him to ransom his Brig and Cargo
for £200 Sterling, for the island of Antigua, where
he safely arrived, and sold his Vessel and Cargo at a very
good Market : Some Time after he was ransomed, a French
Privateer met him, and notwithstanding he shewed them
his Papers, they took his Boat from him by Force. By
him we have the Account of the Arrival of Capt. Jackson
at Antigua in a Ship from this Port, and as they came
out, they met a Brig going in, which by the Description
given of her, is judged to be Capt. Branscomb of this Port.
