Start Ski Lessons
Undaunted by very cold weather, 20 junior ski students were on hand to participate in the first of six lessons being sponsored by the Palmer P-TA under the teaching of Richard Mekkelsen.
Starting the juniors off with elementary skiing, Mekkelsen instructed them in the proper adjustment of equipment followed by instructions in proper stance in walking and climbing. Next Sunday he plans to start them in snow-plow skiing. The six-week course has been designed to give the youngsters the fundamentals necessary for safe and proper skiing.
The class is being conducted on the slope just beyond the Little Susitna Lodge, convening at 2 p.m. and continuing until 4 p.m.
Any youngster who was unable to start his lessons this past Sunday is urged to attend February 1.
