The Washington States and Union exults at the "cheering evidence" it receives of "the deep and heartfelt joy with which the nomination of Douglas is hailed all over the country." Mr. Claiborne, one of the delegates from Missouri to the Baltimore Convention, claims that Douglas will get twenty-five thousand majority in that State.

Major John S. Phelps, of Missouri, "the father of the House of Representatives," has promptly declared for Douglas and Johnson.

In Ohio, it is said Douglas will carry the whole Democratic party.
