City Charter—Election of Mayor by the People—Supply of Water to the City.

On yesterday the qualified voters for members of the Common Hall of Petersburg, in pursuance of notice given by the Common Hall, voted upon the questions of accepting the City Charter, electing the Mayor either by the people or City Council, and incurring an expenditure of $50,000 to supply the City with additional water; and, at the close of the polls, the vote stood

Charter.—For accepting Charter 151; against it 109 votes.

Election of Mayor.—For election by the people 208; by City Council 59.

Water Works 195; against 15.
