BELFAST WAKES WITH FEAR
Fifteen Houses Destroyed During Night's Reign of Terror.

London, April 18.—Belfast was recovering today from a night of terror, according to reports reaching here.

During the night several persons received gunshot wounds. Fifteen houses were destroyed in incendiary fires.

Discord between rival factions in the Irish republican army in Dublin was still smouldering. Hopes were expressed, however, that with the passing of a practically uneventful Eastertide, civil strife will be averted.

Truce conferences which will be renewed tomorrow are expected to be more successful than those which were broken off last week.

Mutineers were still holding several seized buildings while loyal republican army troops were maintaining an active guard over strategic points they are holding.

It was considered remarkable here that in spite of the tension between opposing forces, there have been no serious clashes.
