COLLIER TROPHY FOR 1938 GOES TO UNITED STATES ARMY AIR CORPS
President Roosevelt yesterday presented the Collier Trophy marking award in American aviation, to the U. S. Army Air Corps in recognition of their having designed constructed and completely equipped the XO-15 stratospheric plane the first pressure cabin airplane to be flown successfully anywhere in the world.
Brig. Gen. Oscar Westover received the trophy from President Roosevelt in the presence of many other aviation leaders including the membership of the Awards Committee Dr. George W. Lewis director aeronautics for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics S. Paul Johnston editor Aviation, Leighton K. Rogers President, at the Aeronautical Chamber Commerce, Major J. H. Helfrich T. P. Wright Hon. L. du Pont F. R. Stimson Jr. Will B. Mayo, and Edward P. Warner.
