Francfort, Feb. 3. M. Maillebois, who has lately received Orders from his Court to maintain himself at all Events in the Empire, arrived here on the 28th of last Month, at the House of M. de la Noue, where he received the Compliments of the Magistrates of this City; to whom he gave the strongest Assurances of his Most Christian Majesty's favourable Intentions towards this City and his Desire to preserve its Rights and Privileges inviolable; exhorting the Deputies, at the same Time, not to suffer the Hanoverians, or any other Troops of the Allies, to encamp on their Territories. According to the Dispositions that are now making by the French, it appears evidently, their Intention is to maintain themselves in our Neighbourhood if they can, to support and reinforce, or, at least, keep open their Communication with the Troops they have in Swabia and in Bavaria; so that Things have once more changed their Face here, and put on a Warlike Appearance. In the mean Time the Hanoverians on one Side, and the Army under the Command of the Duke of Aremberg on the other, continue to advance with all imaginable Diligence; so that it cannot be long before Things come to a Crisis here. They write from Francfort, that it is generally believed there, that the King of Poland, Elector of Saxony, will be chosen Emperor, and that the young Arch-Duke Joseph, will be crowned King of Bohemia, and declared King of the Romans.
