GOVERNOR PRESENTS DEGREES AT STATE

300 Get Diplomas at Raleigh Tonight; Outdoor Exercises Are Held

College Station, Raleigh, June 10 Governor J. C. B. Ehringhaus will present degrees tonight to 300 members of this year's senior class of N. C. State College. The graduation exercises will start at 7 o'clock in Riddick Stadium.

The exercises will be presided over by Col. John W. Harrelson, administrative head of the college. Short talks will be made by the governor, Col. Harrelson, and Dr. Frank Graham, president of the University of North Carolina.

Immediately following the commencement program there will be a reception in Holladay hall for members of the graduating class, their parents, and friends. The reception will bring to a close State's forty-third commencement program.

Several thousand people are expected to attend the outdoor services tonight. The practice of holding the graduation exercises out-of-doors was started several years ago and proved so popular that the practice has been continued until this date.

Among those present tonight will be hundreds of alumni who were here today attending the annual business meeting of the general alumni association. The association met this morning at 10 o'clock, elected new officers, heard committee reports, and listened to an address by Dr. Graham.

Today at one o'clock the annual alumni luncheon was held at the college dining hall. Col. Harrelson was the speaker and he talked of the work at State during the past year.

Class reunions and a baseball game between faculty and alumni filled up the afternoon hours.

The commencement program began Saturday night with the awarding of medals, cups, and other prizes to outstanding members of the senior class. The senior oratorical contest also was held Saturday night.

There was an outdoor band concert yesterday at 4:30. and last night at 8:30 in Pullen Hall. the Baccalaureate sermon was preached by Bishop Edwin D. Mouzon of Charlotte.
