Your last number reached us here in the Northern end of our county, and the people who intend to interest themselves, at the coming election, are glad to know that they have an organ, through which the truth will be published, and the interests of the Republican party upheld, and to that end, are determined to take the paper, and thereby hold up the hands of the editors. This should be the duty of every one, for how can you labor without encouragement of that kind. Our plan here is to get up a club, and each member subscribe for the Gazette & Democrat. So every district should do. A lively interest would be created, and the principles of the great Republican party be fairly understood. Let not the paltry sum of the subscription be an object. Republicans everywhere, remember that the enemy are up and doing. If the masses of the party now in power are ignorant, they are smart enough to understand political organization and party drill.
They are not only such as talk about certain principles which they uphold, but the so styled Democrats reach into their pockets and take their paper, or the paper of their party.
To that portion of the Republican party, who feel as if they were still old line Whigs, I have but to say, show your Whig principles, by fighting your ancient enemy.
The great issue is the extension of Slavery in the Territories, or not. The Democrats advocate its extension: the Republicans oppose it. Here is the point! Upon this point turns the destiny of our great country. Give the South the balance of power, and monarchy will ensue! Aristocracy is emblazoned on their banner; it pervades their institutions, and is their religion.
These are great truths and serious facts; the people must know them, and the only way to know them is to take the paper. Friends of the Republican principles, act in this matter; talk to your neighbors, and get them to subscribe for the paper which advocates true principles, and is besides a vehicle which conveys to them the current news of the day.

Main Argument
republicans should subscribe to the gazette & democrat and form clubs to support the party, counter democratic organization, and oppose the extension of slavery into territories, as this issue determines the nation's destiny against southern aristocracy and potential monarchy.
