The Democrats of this State held their convention for the nomination of candidates for State Officers and members of Congress, at Providence, on Wednesday. The following nominations were made: For Governor, Americus V. Potter, of Cranston; for Lieut. Governor, J. B. M. Potter, of South Kingstown; for Secretary of State, Anderson C. Rose, of New Shoreham; for Attorney General, Franklin J. Dickerman, of Providence; for General Treasurer, Gilbert Chase, of Newport. Ambrose E. Burnside was nominated for Congress in the Eastern District, and Charles Jackson in the Western. Asa Potter was first nominated for Secretary of State, but declined. Several nominations were then made, but all declined except Mr. Rose.
