The Rawlins Meeting

The Democrats of the territory will celebrate the birthday of Thomas Jefferson, the founder of the party, by a general meeting to be held at Rawlins on April 15th. A call by the territorial central committee for that purpose is published in this issue. It is to be hoped that the meeting will be largely attended from all over the territory. Meetings of this sort will be held throughout the United States under the auspices of the Democratic clubs. The present is a very auspicious time at which to hold such a gathering. Political principles will hereafter be of more consequence than individuals. It is therefore important at the outset to study these principles from the fountain head of Democracy and become thoroughly imbued with the fundamental doctrines upon which the American government, as it was originally constituted, must rest.
