Fatal Affray near Independence, Mo.

The Kansas City Times states that George Webb shot and killed James Aid, and wounded David Hamilton, on Saturday last, in an affray at Salem Church, five miles from Independence, Mo. It appears that a little family feud existed between Webb and Aid's families, and, as both parties belonged to the same Baptist Church, an effort was made to settle the difficulty within and through the influence of the Church. With this view, a meeting of the respective friends was held on Saturday, and, while efforts were being made to heal the differences between Aid and Webb, a few angry words were spoken, whereupon Webb shot and wounded one of the Aid brothers. In an attempt to stop the fight, David Hamilton was wounded and Webb killed, the latter receiving seven bullets in his body. James Aid and Daniel Hamilton were arrested, and warrants were issued for other parties.
