HODGKINS.

We renew our recommendation to our readers, to peruse the statement of Hodgkins, published in our paper of the 12th ult. and sanctioned by his solemn oath in court last. It is the simple and undisguised narrative of the sufferings of one who has indeed experienced all the "love" which Bonaparte possesses toward Americans. Let the apologists of France justify the conduct of the "imperial rascal," in taking our citizens and confining them in the gloomy caverns of a prison, as hostages to secure the payment of money, which base authorized robbers had stolen. Let them proclaim that our government made every possible exertion to rescue young Hodgkins from confinement. The naked truth has been by us placed before the public-and we now leave that public to form its own opinion.
