Leghorn, Jan. 31. The last Advices from Bastia, import, that some Pieces of Balagna in Corsica, had sent their Arms and an Offer of Submission to the French General, who sent them back, and acquainted them, that he would treat with them no further, but would shortly make them a Visit at the Head of a French Army, and punish them for their past Conduct.

Notwithstanding this, the Malecontents make Excursions all over the Country, so that no Body dares to go out of the fortified Towns, for fear of being plundered; and the Count de Boiffieux is obliged to have a watchful Eye over the Citizens of Bastia, who are suspected to favour the Malecontents; who have published a Manifesto, wherein appears their violent Desire of being independent of the Genoese, and their Resolution (like a brave People) of sacrificing every thing to become so.

To accomplish which, Baron Newhoff will speedily supply them with a Sufficiency of Arms and Ammunition, to put them in a Condition of defending themselves against the French Troops. A fresh Body of which has received Orders to pass from Antibes to Corsica.
