Full Text

At a recent celebration of American Independence in the State of New-York, the ladies participated with the gentlemen in the festivities of the occasion, and a Miss Ann Teeple distinguished herself by giving a political toast which contained a pointed animadversion on the conduct of Governor Clinton. We have no fear that the repulsive example of Miss Ann Teeple will meet either with imitation or applause. No good reason, it is true, can be offered why our countrywomen should not acquaint themselves with the nature of our political institutions, and foster a just regard for the national welfare, but we hope never to see them descending from their appropriate and elevated walk of usefulness, to mingle in the rough and acrimonious contests of party. May Miss Ann Teeple be left without a competitor for the honours of Semale radicalism in the United States.
