Because, he said, they objected, first with loud words and later with blows, when he ordered a repacking of cantaloupes which were not satisfactory for shipping, P. V. Harrigan today filed charges of disturbing the peace against Ed Arkalian and Vaughn Azadarian, Armenian shippers.
Appearing before Judge I. Mayfield to sign the complaint, Harrigan this morning carried a discolored eye and other bruises as evidence of what he termed an attack on him in a local restaurant, after he left the packing shed on the eastside.
Arkalian was arrested after the alleged assault and released from jail last night on $50 bail. Both men probably will appear before Judge Mayfield, Monday.
