Reactionaries are making every effort to snow FEPC under in the press of last-minute legislation.
Full appropriation for the existing agency is still a question mark in the Senate.
Meanwhile the House Appropriations Committee voted FEPC a three-month appropriation to liquidate itself! Whatever is the outcome of this present scramble, the big fight now is to get the permanent agency established.
Make sure that your Congressman signs the Discharge Petition for H. R. 2232.
This issue isn't only one of fairness to our Negro brothers. The plot to destroy fair employment policy is part of a much bigger thing, an over-all campaign to destroy the unity of workers. NAM's big boys, including the leading auto manufacturers, aren't planning for full employment. They're planning scarcity, top profits, and a dog-eat-dog fight among the unemployed for the few available jobs. Part of this strategy is the fake "super-seniority" plan which is meant to set veterans knifing war workers to get their jobs. Another part is the destruction of FEPC protection for minorities, with the hope of setting Negro against white in the contest for employment.
It all adds up to breaking down wages, standards and the organized labor movement as such, planning for chaos instead of progress in postwar America.
