By a Letter from Rome, received by the last Mail we are informed, that an English Gentleman having been lately introduced to the Pope, his Holiness was pleased among other Things, to say, "That if the Intelligence he had received of the taking of Martinico had not been unquestionable, he could not have believed we had been able to make so difficult a Conquest; and that the Glory of the English Nation was now arrived to so great a Height, that he should have thought it an Honor to have been an Englishman."
