HORRID MASSACRE.

On Thursday evening last, an express came here to the Governor, bringing information, that on Monday night, 1st inst. a young man and woman in Mill Creek, were shockingly massacred, by a party of Indians, in the edge of Franklin county, this state. A woman and boy, who were shot near the same place, and made their escape say there were 8 or 10 Indians of the party which they took to be Cherokees; but most likely a party straggling Creeks. Such are the unwelcome tidings which frequently greet our ears of late; and such is the war now carried on by our savage foe--excited by the still more savage and hellish agents the "bulwark of our holy religion!"

The Governor, with his accustomed zeal and promptitude, immediately directed a company be raised from the militia of that county, to act as mounted rangers, for the purpose of guarding the frontiers thereof.
