The Pensacola Democrat of the 6th inst., says:

Yesterday morning Major Chase arrived in this city from New Orleans with orders for the forces stationed here under command of Col. Crane, to embark forthwith for the Rio Grande.

The brig Virginia, Capt. Wood, was chartered for the transportation of the troops at 2 o'clock, P. M., and at 4 o'clock had on board ballast, provisions and men, with the steamer Gen. Taylor, alongside ready to tow her to sea.

For which unusual despatch too much praise cannot be awarded to Com. W. K. Latimer, of our navy yard.
